Donate a Laptop Computer for a Cambodian student
One of the ways you can join our efforts to provide education for disadvantage children and young people in Cambodia is donating education. If it is in your possibilities to donate books, computers, Internet connections for schools in poor areas, you are welcome to coordinate it with our Don Bosco schools through DBFC.
Most of our technical students in Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville, Poipet, Kep and Battambang come from impoverished rural areas of Cambodia. Many others come from poor areas of the main urban centers. They are sons and daughters of farmers, workers, taxi drivers or they are orphans or abandoned kids.
Laptop computers are excellent tools for education. In Cambodia, it is possible now to buy a laptop computer in 400 US dollars (1,600,000 million Riels.) In developed countries that sum could be affordable for a middle income family, but in Cambodia, with salaries under 100 US dollars (400,000 Riels), it is a fortune.
You can help us in many ways to make that the best students of our schools and programs like the Don Bosco Children Fund, can get tools such as computers and books for their formation:
- Donate a laptop computer for a Don Bosco student in Cambodia with high academic scores only and proven that he/she comes from a poor family.
- Donate a set of computers to build a computer laboratory for a technical section or a school.
- Donate a set of books in Khmer to create a Khmer language library in a technical section or school in Cambodia.
You can come as a volunteer in any of our works in Cambodia and we appreciate it very much. But you will stay for few months and you will return to your country. But if you provide a computer or a book for a student in our country, that tool will remain for much time, the necessary for a kid or a young person to get a skill.
