This is the page description of the project of Don Bosco Foundation of Cambodia in Poipet, Banteay Meanchey Province, North-West of Cambodia.

Don Bosco Home is a place for children rescued from human traffic, literacy center, Children Fund and technical workshops for children and youth from poor backgrounds in Poipet.

Where life finds hope amidst the odds...

A Fortunate Series of  Events...

*  November 2001 - 3 hectares of land were bought.
*  Construction work started in March 2002 - a fence was built and the land area was raised.
*  May 2002 - construction of the guest house and the store .
*  May 2002 - Don Bosco Children Fund started with 30 children. Building  of the guard house and the paved road to the store started.
*  December 9, 2002 - Classes started (Literacy Center) in a temporary building with 60 children. The School Feeding Program also started for 17.000 children in the Poipet area (USDA).
*  January 21, 2003 - Arrival of Don Bosco statue in the center.
*  January 31, 2003 - Opening ceremony in presence of the governor of  Banteay Meanchey, Bishop Kike and guests.
*  February 2003 - the first twelve street children arrived in the recovery home where they had temporary lodging in the store. Construction of children home also started.
*  February 2003 - Construction started for Literacy Center Building (7 classrooms, kitchen and dining hall).
*  June 2003 - 3 hectares of land was bought for future expansion and for agricultural training (2 US per sq meter).
*  July 2003 - Start to dig the foundations for the technical workshops and sewing/computer workshops.
*  August 2003 - Start construction of the Salesian staff house.
*  January 2004 - The first two Salesians (Fr John Visser and Fr Renato Torresan) settled in the center.
*  February 2004 - All constructions finished according to plan.
*  November 7, 2004 - Opening of Don Bosco Center Poipet by His Excellency Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia - attended by 3.000 guests from here and abroad.
